Heritage Compass Privacy Policy

Heritage Compass uses your location to find nearby places of interest and provide related information. We do not operate a developer server that receives your location, and the app does not include advertising trackers or behavioural analytics.

1. Location and nearby places

When you use the nearby-places feature, the app obtains your location through your Garmin device and sends latitude and longitude to Wikipedia/Wikimedia to request nearby places. Requests for article information also send the relevant article identifiers.

These requests go to Wikimedia’s services, which may process connection information such as the public IP address used for the request. Their handling of information is governed by the Wikimedia Privacy Policy.

2. Optional phone navigation

If you choose to open directions on your phone, the app passes the selected destination coordinates to Apple Maps or Google Maps. The selected provider handles the resulting navigation request under its own privacy policy:

3. Information stored locally

The app stores settings and cached place or article information locally on your watch. Cached information may include coordinates associated with nearby-place results. This information is not uploaded to a developer-operated server.

Local information may remain until replaced, cleared, or removed through uninstalling the app or resetting the device, according to Garmin’s platform behaviour.

4. Your choices and contact

You can stop location-based requests by not using those features and manage available permissions through Garmin’s controls. Removing the app stops further requests from it.

For privacy questions, use Contact Developer on the Heritage Compass Connect IQ Store listing. If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide and use it to respond.

Garmin’s own services are governed by the Garmin Privacy Policy. We will update this policy if the app’s privacy practices change.

5. If your edition uses KiezelPay

This section applies only to editions that use KiezelPay, including their trial period and use after purchase.

KiezelPay manages trials, purchases, activation and licence verification. The licensing integration communicates with KiezelPay and may transmit device or installation identifiers, product identifiers and information needed to establish licence status. Licence verification may continue after purchase.

If you make a purchase, KiezelPay and its payment providers process the information you submit during checkout. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

KiezelPay’s collection, use, retention and disclosure of information are governed by the KiezelPay Privacy Policy. Contact KiezelPay directly for requests concerning information held by its service.
